Honda has it all wrong E-mail Print
Renaults Director of engineering Pat Symonds says the teams strategy is what's stopping Honda from getting the maiden victory they deserve.

Lets face it, he should know! It has emerged that Honda went against Michelin's advice to use a specific tyre (the same as the other Michelin runners) and went with another in the first and third races of the season. This, Symonds believes, is why the performance of the car, particularly the inability to generate tyre temperature after pit stops and restarts, has been poor.

Symonds doesn't know if it is just arrogance or a staffing issue but he is amazed that the team aren't progressing even with the advantage of a third car and Friday driver. This should enable the team to make the right decisions and work closely with the tyre manufacturers which is encouraged. He said if the same mistakes were to happen at Renault then jobs would be lost.
